Our many years of travel industry experience and ancestry expertise in Slovenia mean that Four Seasons Travel is well equipped to research your family history and take you to the places in Slovenia where you have family roots. Where possible we will research and locate the houses where your ancestors were born and grew up, and we will also try to find living relations in the same area of Slovenia and facilitate family reunions.
Our custom made itineraries will enable you to explore the most popular destinations and visitor attractions of Slovenia. You can also extend your tour to include one or more of our neighbouring countries, including Croatia, Italy (including Venice), Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro, visiting many highlights of the region such as Lake Bled, Ljubljana, Zagreb, the Plitvice Lakes National Park, Split and Dubrovnik. We can also take you “off the beaten path” to discover many lesser known hidden gems, including many other national parks, lush green alpine valleys, some fabulous countryside, and many charming and historic old towns & villages.
Everything that we do is custom made to the specific needs and preferences of our clients and we aim to ensure that our clients’ expectations of service delivery and value for money are exceeded. From the time of making your first enquiry through to the end of your visit, you can expect a service which will be efficient, friendly and individually tailored to your requirements.
Typically, most of our ancestry clients are from the United States and Canada. My British nationality, combined with my Slovenian residency and extensive local knowledge means that you can feel assured that we have a good understanding of your travel needs and preferences, whilst offering you effective communication and a high degree of reliability and trust. Furthermore, our experience and detailed local knowledge of the regions of ex-Yugoslavia means that when you make an enquiry, we can accurately match your requirements and interests with a carefully planned and custom made itinerary. We have personally developed a good network of reliable and friendly partner agencies, English speaking drivers, local tour guides and hotel partners throughout Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro which means that you will be guaranteed a seamless travel experience.
According to your preference you can enjoy the freedom selecting and arranging your own hotel accommodation. Experience has shown us that our clients’ preferences of hotel accommodation vary considerably, from good standard three star hotels, to charming four star boutique hotels, through to luxurious five star hotels.
Our tours can start and finish at any airport or location of your choice, including Ljubljana, Zagreb, Trieste, or Venice. Venice’s Marco Polo Airport allows visitors from the USA, Canada, the UK, mainland Europe and other continents and nations easy access and value for money airfares. Furthermore, clients can opt to stay in Venice privately for an extra one or more nights before or after their tour with us. Ljubljana, Trieste and Zagreb airports offer many flight connections within Europe.

Tour dates and durations: The timing and the duration of your custom made tour is completely your choice. We would recommend that the best times to visit are typically from the middle of March through to the end of October. Taking your own preferences into full consideration, we will recommend a tour itinerary which covers these locations in the most time efficient and cost effective way.
Ancestry: Over the years we have helped several clients to trace their family roots in Slovenia and Croatia and in some cases we have been able to facilitate family reunions or bring family members together for the first time. This normally involves undertaking some research weeks or months in advance of our clients’ planned trip so that we have sufficient time to locate relatives and to make the arrangements for bringing families together. In addition to the custom made ancestral activities of your tour, we can include all of the other places and visitor attractions on your ‘wish list’.
